I finally got out onto the water this weekend!
I launched at Muskrat Lake on Monday around 7:30am looking for some early season Lakers. I had heard that they like to come in shallow just after ice-out so that is where I focussed my attention. I trolled spoons from planer-boards, I flat-lined them as well as cranks, and tried casting more cranks and some jigs....but nothing to show for it outside of a small sunburn!
I also looked in deeper water as well as points and steep drop-offs, but nothing going.
It was an awesome day on the water but would have been a whole lot nicer had a fish found its way into my boat, but there will be plenty of time for that.
I am still pretty new to the world of Laker fishing, maybe my 5th time out ever, so I am not totally disappointed. If it were too easy it wouldn’t be as much fun.
I guess I just need to get out again and keep on trying. I did hear a rumour of a 12lber being caught later in the day, so fingers are crossed I can get out again before too long.
